IRL (In Resin Life) is a website dedicated to my two ABJDS - Asian ball jointed dolls. These two dolls, Rémy and Laurant, are the embodiment of two personalities that exist mostly inside my head. I don't subscribe to the belief that these dolls actually have souls or lives apart from what I choose to give them, but sometimes, I slip. I was first drawn to these dolls in early 2005, and by July, I had gotten my first doll. I am currently saving up for my second, and expect to get him around May 2006. ABJDs are highly customisable, anatomically correct dolls made of polyurethane resin (a harder form of porcelain). I was introduced to them through the gothic lolita sub-culture, which I had gotten into through cosplay. They appeal to me on many levels - the customisation, clothing and role-playing aspects of having these dolls, as well as the social interaction with other doll-owners. These boys have definitely made back their cost in the amount of time they keep me entertained. The Stories section is for "photostories" featuring the boys and other dolls they meet. The Shoots section is just for specific photoshoots to display settings and/or costumes. This section includes specific cosplay costumes the boys have worn. Profiles gives more information on the boys and their backgrounds. Lessons are for those interested in getting a doll for themselves, or for new owners who want to learn how I've done something. The Shop is where you can buy or commission clothes from me, or look up other Australian BJD services. Links sends you to other doll owners or doll-related pages. |
